Meet Kate
My name is Kate. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2018, at age 26. I underwent chemotherapy, bilateral mastectomy, and reconstruction. Being diagnosed with breast cancer at any age is devastating, but at 26 when you’re supposed to be in your prime; and instead have everything that makes you feel like a woman stripped away from you is especially hard. I’ve been learning to accept this new normal over the past two years. Without Project Pink’d I don’t know where I would be, but I know I wouldn’t be at this stage of healing and acceptance. There are ups and downs along this path, but each day is a gift. I am working hard to improve myself and learn and grow together with my other Pink’d sisters as well. I want to keep being a cancer survivor as part of who I am because it happened to me, but I don’t want it to define me. The Dare to Thrive retreat is helping me do just that!
