Straight Talk: Cryoablation for Early-Stage Breast Cancer
Dr. Rakhshanda Layeequr - Rahman is Chief of Breast Surgery at CHI Health and Creighton University. A nationally recognized breast surgeon, researcher, and educator, she previously founded the Breast Center of Excellence at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, leading it to National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) accreditation and developing innovative community outreach and breast cancer screening programs across West Texas.
Dr. Rahman is passionate about advancing breast cancer care through innovation, education, and research, with a special interest in minimally invasive treatment options that improve outcomes and quality of life for patients.
She will be discussing Cryoablation, which is an emerging minimally invasive treatment for select patients with early-stage breast cancer. Cryoablation uses extreme cold to destroy cancer cells through a needle-like probe placed into the tumor under imaging guidance, often eliminating the need for traditional surgery in carefully selected cases.
